Planning a UK Adventure? Here’s What You Need to Know About the New Entry Requirements
Dreaming of strolling through London’s historic streets or exploring the Scottish Highlands? Starting January 8th, 2025, your journey to the United Kingdom comes with a new step: the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA).
This streamlined digital permit applies to travelers from the US, Australia, and Canada, allowing visits of up to 6 months within a 2-year period. Whether you're planning to explore, study, or work in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, you'll need to secure your ETA before departure.
What you’ll need:
A passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned arrival
Your initial UK entry date
A passport photo
Information about your criminal and immigration history
£10 for the application fee
While the process typically takes about three days, we recommend applying as soon as you've finalized your travel plans to ensure a smooth journey. Remember, this requirement doesn't apply to visits to the Republic of Ireland, which operates under separate entry requirements.
At The Next Chapter Travel, we're here to keep you informed on new entry requirements—so you can embark on your perfect adventure without a hitch.
